Region 14A Member Leader Training

This successful ASQ Section 14A Leadership was conducted on July 17, 2010. John Hartzler, section 1414 chair, introduced Belinda Chavez, ASQ Section 14 Director, and Cynthia Nazario, ASQ Community Development administrator. In this way the event was officially opened. Belinda provided updates on the latest structure within ASQ Headquarters and the expectations HQ has from the Sections. Cynthia went through the ASQ web site and the Member Leader Area as well as SharePoint features. Lastly Belinda and Cynthia went through the roles of various Member Leaders including the Section Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and Membership Chair as time permitted towards the end of the day. The talk that Mac McGuire gave was very interesting and well received by those in attendance.

Awards Meeting

ASQ Austin is a very dynamic section with very committed members to achieve excellence. During this event at County Lane on the Hills, ASQ Austin had the opportunity to award all those people that had made a contribution to the section as well as delivering the Flories and Team 2000 scholarships.

Training Event: 12 Pillars of Project Excellence

This class was the last one on the series of Lean and Project Management training events scheduled during 2009/2010. This event introduced to the participants Project Management principles as well as the pillars needed for achieve successful projects. Some of the attendants said that this was a very informative event. Adil Adal was the instructor.

Regular Meeting: Monte Carlo Analysis Demo

The presenter of "Monte Carlo Analysis Demo" was Dr. Harrison (Skip) Weed from Dell. Dr. Weed has over 30 years of consulting and instructional experience in statistical, quality and Lean Six Sigma methods for industrial, university and US government organizations. His presentation was very well received by one of he most large audiences to the recent ASQ Austin general meetings.

Plant Tour - Flextronics


A joint event was held on March 10th with ASQ Austin and the local Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).  Flextronics provided an excellent tour of their facility with a large staff of tour guides volunteering their services.

Training Event: Lean Enterprise Technology Overview

On February 13 ASQ Austin conducted a workshop demonstrating how to apply lean tools to improve manufacturing processes.  Adil Dalal was the instructor. This seminar is part 2 of the 3-part FY 2009/2010 scheduled educational events. Attendants participated in exercises to show how manufacturing processes are impacted went lean methods are not used and how they are improved after lean methods are applied.  Mr. Dalal provided several examples of how well some companies are operated when they apply lean methods.
